SCHEDULE OF EVENTS – APPLEFEST 2016

The Little Mermaid – Franklin Civic Operetta Association presents The Little Mermaid  at the Barrow-Civic Theatre, 1223 Liberty St., Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 6, 7, and 8 – 7:30; Oct. 2 – 2PM.  For tickets call 814-437-3440

U.S. Army National Asset – US Army Adventure Trailer-members of the public can test their shooting
skills with rifles and pistols used by our military on a gaming system. The Trailer also has an X-Box Kinect system with a best boxer virtual reality game. Oct. 7, 8, 9 – 10AM until 5PM

Gigantic Book Fair – Venango County Historical Society-Applefest Book Sale and Garage Sale – 301 S. Park St.:  Oct. 7-10AM-5PM; Oct. 8, 3-10-5PM; Oct. 9-Noon-4PM

Sports & Beverages – Oct. 7, 8, 9 – Barrow-Civic Theatre Little Theatre will be open from Noon to 6PM for sports on the big screen and beverages. Stop in any time to watch the game of the hour and rest your weary feet.

FREE Coloring Station – Apple Jackie Headquarters, 409 13th Street, Oct 7 and 8 10AM – 4PM, prizes awarded

Tiffany Window Tours – St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1145 Buffalo St., Oct. 7-9 Tours at 10AM, Noon, and 2PM; Oct. 4 tour at 2PM.  Doors open 8AM-8PM Fri. & Sat.

Used Book Sale – Franklin Public Library, 421 Twelfth St., 10/1 – 10-5PM; 10/3-10/7, 10-8PM; 10-8, 10-5PM;  10/9 – Noon-5PM

Hospitality Center – The Hospitality Ministry of First Presbyterian Church offers restrooms, diaper changing station, free water, a place to eat and relax.  Offering self-guided stained glass window tours & quiet meditation in the sanctuary.  Located at the corner of West Park and Elk Streets across from Fountain Park.  Ongoing hospitality during the days and hours of Applefest. Sponsored by First Presbyterian Church

Face Painting – 10AM – 3PM, Oct. 7, 8, and9  Fountain Park Gazebo.  Proceeds benefit Boy Scout Troop 28

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4

9th Annual Pink Splash for the CURE- Fountain in Fountain Park, 5:30PM – Fundraising & awareness event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure & the Kirtland Cancer Foundation.  The fountain will be colored PINK by local cancer survivors.  “In Memory Of” & “In Honor Of” balloon sales, 50/50 raffle.  “Dine for the Cure” nights will be held by local restaurants.  Come out and support the Cause!

Franklin High School Hall of Fame – 2016 Induction Ceremony – the Quality Inn and Conference Center, 1411 Liberty Street.  Cocktails begin at 5PM; Dinner at 6:30PM.  2016 Inductees are:  Mr. Bill Hager, Mr. David Richardson, Mr. Wayne Eakin, Mr. Ed Frye, Ms. Jody Billingsley.  Tickets are $25.00 each and available at  your Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Growing Through Challenges Obstacle Course – PNC employees will be on hand to help children as they make their way through the bank’s outdoor obstacle course. Through their participation, children (ages 2 – 6) will prepare for success in life.  An award will be presented to each participant. Sponsored by PNC Grow Up Great.

Brandon’s Dad – 12th Street (between Liberty and Buffalo), 8AM until 4PM – D.U.I. Awareness. The Brandon’s Dad organization works daily to help students make better choices when they consider Underage Drinking and educating everyone about the dangers of DUI. Stop by the Bandon’s Dad organization’s event to check out the various “Beer Goggle” activities in a safe environment so you can learn the real dangers of Drinking and Driving instead of learning with pain in real life.  Brandon’s Dad not only saves lives but they also keep parents dreams alive too.
